Berry Explosion Smoothie Bowl

This smoothie bowl is berry packed and a beautiful hue of purple. I topped it with my homemade granola that gave it a needed crunch and chew factor.  It is loaded with antioxidants from the variety of berries in this smoothie bowl. Let’s just say it will do your body good.

  • 1/2 c blackberries
  • 1/2c raspberries
  • 1/2 c strawberries
  • 1/2 c blueberries
  • 1/2 c purple grapes
  • 1 tsp ground flax seed

Topping:

Combine all ingredients into a high-speed blender.

Berry Refresher

This is a great summertime refreshing drink.  I like to make this after a workout. You can make this with fresh or frozen berries. Frozen berries make it thicker.

  • 1/2 c raspberries
  • 1/2 c strawberries
  • 1/2 c purple/red grapes
  • 1/4 c almond milk, vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp ground flax seed

Combine all ingredients into a high speed blender. Blitz until smooth.

Tropical Treat

Smoothies are a great way to take a nutritious meal on the road. I also like to serve smoothies in a bowl with some adds ingredients for toppings. This is a wonderful tropical treat.

  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 c strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 c mango, cubed
  • 1/4 c plant based milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground flax seed

Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. Blitz until smooth and creamy.

Green Machine Smoothie Bowl

I just realized that I have not given you any green smoothie recipes. today I will remedy that error. I have used greens in smoothie, but it did not stand out as being green. This smoothie bowl says I am a green machine.

Smoothie:

  • 1 c spinach
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1 c  green grapes
  • 1/2 c coconut milk

Add all smoothie ingredients into a high speed blender. Blitz until creamy and smooth.

Tropical Granola Smoothie Bowl

I thought I would bring you some new smoothie recipes. I have been working on my cookbook and I realized that I did not have enough smoothie and drink recipes. This one tasted so good I will probably add it to the book.

Smoothie Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 c mango chunks
  • 1 c pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 c pineapple juice
  • 1/2 tsp flax seed

Blitz smoothie ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy.

Pour into bowl.

Toppings:

  • 2 tbsp homemade granola
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Top smoothie with granola, coconut and chia seeds.

Kiwi Refesher

The title says it all. This is the perfect refreshing and healthy drink. The recipe is for one, but it can be multiplied to make a big batch. This would make a wonderful picnic or barbecue drink. It is a little tart a little sweet and there is no additional sugars added. Pour this refreshing drink into popsicle molds and have a healthy frozen treat for the kiddos. They will love it. Another thing it only has 5 ingredients.

  • 1 Kiwi, peeled
  • 1 1/2 c Watermelon
  • 1 1/2 c Grapes, purple/red
  • 1/2 tsp flaxseed powder
  • 1/2 c almond milk

Note: You can use the frozen fruit if you prefer a more slushy drink, or just add some ice cubes.

Combine all ingredients into a high-speed blender.

Blitz for about 60 seconds.

Serve as is, or over ice. Enjoy.

Strawberry – Banana Smoothie

I recently realized that I have not given you very many smoothie recipes. Smoothies are a great way to incorporate more fruits and veggies, along with some other incredibly healthy ingredients.

If you are using the daily dozen app, you can appreciate a good smoothie recipe to check off some of your 24 check marks. A good smoothie recipe can check up to about 6 check marks. That is a nutritious smoothie. I believe this one can check off about 5 marks.

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 c strawberries, sliced
  • 1 c almond milk
  • 1/4 c chia pudding
  • 2 tbsp flaxseed, ground
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar

Combine all ingredients into a blender.

Blitz until ingredients are combined and creamy.

Note:  I Made this for a snack for us to have later in the day so I did not use frozen fruit. Using frozen fruit will make it a little thicker and of course colder. I just stuck ours in the refrigerator until it was time for our snack.

Chia Pudding Parfait

I have made Chia Pudding numerous times, yet I have not posted a recipe. These parfaits with the Chia Pudding are great for making a large quantity. This makes 6-8 generous servings.

Parfaits are great for breakfast, snacks, or even desserts. Make them in a mason jar and they are perfect for grab-n-go.

Strawberries are in full season here in Florida. In our area there is a Strawberry Festival that has just started up this past weekend. There are strawberries everywhere, even in this parfait. You can use what ever fruit that is in season. That is what is nice about this parfait, it is good anytime of year.

  • 2 c unsweetened soy milk
  • 1/2 c chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup, plus extra if desired
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2c in season fruit
  • homemade granola for topping

Whisk together soy milk, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.

Stir chia mixture after 15 minutes.

Cover chia mixture and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.

Assemble parfaits: Blueberries, Chia Pudding, Strawberries and top with granola.

I made one to eat right away in a pretty little glass and the remaining I made some in mason jars.

Note: Some people do not like the texture of Chia Pudding. A remedy for that is to put it in a smoothie and blitz it all together. By this you are still getting all the fiber, protein and omega- 3 fatty acids. No wonder they call Chia seeds a super food.

Greens, Fruit and Nut Smoothie

I have always liked smoothies, but I am not a big fan of drinking my calories. So I do not make them very often. I now consider them more of a treat or if I am not really hungry, but I want something light and refreshing for a quick meal.

This smoothie is nutrient dense, flavorful and surprisingly filling. I like that it has a clean, not overly sweet taste. You can always add sweetener of choice if you like yours a little sweeter.

  • 1 c Cascadian Raspberry, Cherry & Berry Blend
  • 1 handful of Baby Kale Blend (Chard, Baby Kale, Spinach)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Almond butter
  • 1 c Almond milk

This is so easy. Put all the ingredients into your blender.

Berry-Banana Smoothie

I do not make them very often, but I like them. I had some bananas that were getting pretty ripe. I did not feel like making muffins or bread so I thought a smoothie would be good. I had everything I needed: frozen berries, bananas, almond milk and chia seeds. This is a nutrient packed drink. That is what I like about smoothies. They are easy to make and you can change the flavor just by changing one or two ingredients.

This recipe makes three large servings. One of the tricks I do is grind the Chia seeds in a spice grinder. By doing this you are turning it into a powder and the Chia seeds are less noticeable. My husband is not fond of the texture of Chia seeds, by grinding them I am taking care of that problem. Give it a try. I promise it really works.

This recipe would be great for smoothie pops as a snack. Make it like you were making a smoothie, but pour it into popsicle forms instead of a glass and freeze them. You could make them up in the morning so when the kids get home from school you have a fun and nutritious snack all ready for them to enjoy. I might even make some for us adults.

  • 2 bananas, ripe, peeled and broken into pieces
  • 2 c Cascadian Berry and Cherry Blend (this is what I had in the freezer)
  • 2 c almond milk, vanilla, unsweetened
  • 1 tbsp Chia seeds, ground into a powder
  • 2 tsp coconut sugar, optional

Follow manufacturer’s directions for order of ingredients in your blender.

Blend.
